Art at work: Maintenance employee swaps wrench for brush

Jasey Colunga, machinist with the 530th Commodities Maintenance Squadron, leans on his most recently completed artwork at Hill Air Force Base. This is the single largest work of art Mr. Colunga has completed. The entire mural spans 170 feet by 35 feet, and is too wide to capture in a single photo. Drafts for the mural began with roadmaps from Texas to Utah representing the connection the unit has had with Texas in the past. Those drafts were tossed aside, however, and replaced with an all encompassing picture of Utah. The mural depicts southern Utah on the left and northern Utah on the right side. "The mural is really just to boost morale in our building," said Mr. Colunga. "It turns our industrial workplace into an interesting shop that people remember." Courtesy Photo
