The AFRPA Real Estate Transactions (AFRPA/RET) division executes AFRPA's real estate transactions. This includes real estate acquisition, ingrants, outgrants, and disposal activities at Air Force bases worldwide as well as the management of former Air Force bases closed by BRAC.
Acquisition
AFRPA acquires real property assets required to accomplish the Air Force's mission. Working with installation and major command real property personnel, the agency acquires new leases and other real estate interests. The agency also works with installations and major commands to acquire property needed to support special mission requirements and address encroachment.
Ingrants
AFRPA provides guidance and management oversight for acquiring properties that give the Air Force an interest in or control of real property in less-than-fee ownership. This includes licenses, leases, permits, and easements.
Outgrants
AFRPA is the Air Force's manager of real property outgrants transferring interest in, or control of, real estate from the Air Force to another government agency, a non-federal entity, or a private party. The agency also assures all qualifying outgrants are for not less than fair market value in cash or in-kind.
Disposal
In addition to the disposal of BRAC assets, AFRPA oversees installations and major commands disposal of excess real estate, in partnership with the General Services Administration (GSA). The agency also utilizes numerous authorities in the disposal of these assets in order to unlock the maximum value and return it to the warfighter.
