NORTH DAKOTA Affected BRAC 2005 Locations Grand Forks Air Force Base Hector International Airport Air Guard Station Minot Air Force Base Grand Forks Air Force Base Air Mobility Command is responsible for Grand Forks AFB, ND. Grand Forks existing force structure will be redistributed, but the installation is retained to support an emerging mission to be determined. Realign Grand Forks AFB through the following actions: 1. Maintain at least eight KC-135 aircraft at Grand Forks to facilitate an efficient and cost effective bed down of an emerging Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV)mission. Distribute the remaining 319th Air Refueling Wing's KC-135R/T aircraft to meet the Primary Aircraft Authorization requirements established by the Base Closure and Realignment recommendations of the Secretary of Defense, as amended by the Defense Base Closure and Realignment Commission. 2. The remaining tankers will stay in place until the UAVs are operational at Grand Forks unless otherwise required by the Department of Defense for National Emergencies. 3. Retain, adapt or construct appropriate facilities on Grand Forks appropriate to launch, recover, maintain and support the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles assigned to the 119th Wing (ANG). Modify infrastructure to accommodate the emerging UAV mission. 4. * Grand Forks will remain an active Air Force installation with a new active duty/Air National Guard association unit created in anticipation of emerging missions at Grand Forks. Air Combat Command will be lead command for the emerging mission and assume ownership of Grand Forks. Back to top Hector International Airport Air Guard Station The Air National Guard is responsible for Hector International Airport Air Guard Station (AGS). Realign Hector through the following actions: 1. Distribute the 15 F-16 aircraft assigned to the 119th Fighter Wing (ANG) to meet the Primary Aircraft Authorization requirements established by the Base Closure and Realignment recommendations of the Secretary of Defense, as amended by the Defense Base Closure and Realignment Commission. 2. Relocate the 96th Regional Readiness Command David Johnson USARC, Fargo, ND, into a new Reserve Center on Hector Field Air National Guard Base. The Army is responsible for this move in cooperation with the Air National Guard. 3. Expand the planned Armed Force Reserve Center construction on Hector Field to include sufficient facilities to accommodate, at minimum, the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) ground control and intelligence functions and expeditionary combat support elements, including fire, crash and rescue services of the 119th Wing (ANG) in addition to the units already identified in Army Recommendation 73, Reserve Component Transformation in ND. 4.
