Chief Master Sergeant Wendell Snider, Senior Enlisted Leader for the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Energy, Installations, and Environment mentored 94 new enlisted senior noncommissioned officers from both the Air Force and Space Force at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling on Sept. 4.

From a strategic perspective, the Chief educated the new senior noncommissioned officers on key topics like installation readiness, current infrastructure challenges, infrastructure resiliency initiatives, renewable energy projects, housing programs and processes, and current strategies used to leverage community partnerships.

Additionally, Snider emphasized the need to ruggedize air bases over the next decade to ensure air dominance in a high-end fight.

“The intent was to arm the new senior leaders with information, empowering them to be actively engaged in addressing installation infrastructure and housing challenges head-on, and most importantly, take care of the department’s most valuable asset, its people,” said Chief Snider.

Snider brings a wealth of experience, including 28 years of military experience. He served four years in the United States Marine Corps and 24 years in the Air Force in the civil engineer career field. Starting as a structural apprentice, he came up through the ranks, maintaining and sustaining air bases in multiple major commands. Furthermore, he reached his current position by serving on command leadership teams at the squadron, group, wing, and sub-unified command levels. Snider has excelled in critical leadership positions such as Noncommissioned Officer Academy Commandant and three tours as command chief at Mountain Home Air Force Base, Joint Base San Antonio, and United States Forces Japan. During his time with the energy, installations, and environment team, Chief Snider has visited 21 installations and participated in 13 focus groups.

“Chief Snider is a phenomenal and inspirational leader for our department. Not a day goes by without him energizing anyone who interacts with him! He is committed to advancing the issues of our Airmen and Guardians and keeps their priorities on the front burner. It’s a personal honor to have a colleague of that caliber advising me on a daily basis.” said Dr. Ravi I. Chaudhary, Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Energy, Installations, and Environment.
