Air Force Real Property Agency teamed up with the Air Force Installations office at the Association of Defense Communities Annual Conference on Aug 8-11 to meet with communities from across the nation.

This year's theme, "Transforming Communities, Creating a Sustainable Future," was highlighted in the Air Force booth visited by more than 500 ADC participants. The "green" display, partly made from bamboo and artificial turf, featured a 10x10-foot video screen promoting eco friendly projects at AF communities across America. AFRPA designed the booth as a mini television studio. Conference attendees spoke on-camera about green
initiatives happening at their bases.

Mr Jeffrey Domm, AFRPA Deputy Director; Ms Blanca Parades, AFRPA Deputy Strategic Asset Utilization Division; and Mr Jim Holland, Deputy for Installation Policy, Office of the Secretary of AF for Installation also spoke at the conference, hosting break-out sessions to share the latest news about property management, enhanced use leases and energy goals. The Honorable Mr. Terry Yonkers, Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Installations, Environment and Logistics was the keynote speaker for the ADC annual awards banquet and luncheon.

"Our goal has to be refocused on site closure and transfer of property for optimal reuse," said Mr Yonkers. He emphasized the importance of achieving energy goals and continuing to forge innovative land partnership arrangements to create jobs and benefits for the Air Force and local communities. Later in the same week, Mr Yonkers spoke at a ceremony in Sacramento to mark such an innovative transfer at McClellan.
