Mountain Home awarded $1 million for Air Force excellence

Secretary of the Air Force Michael Wynne, the 366 Fighter Wing Command Chief Allen Niksich, Idaho senator Larry Craig, Congressman Bill Sali, the 366th Mission Support Group commander Col.Tom Laffey and Air Force Chief of Staff T. Michael Moseley pose for a photo on May 3 with a $1 million check after the presentation of the 2007 Installation Excellence Award to Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. Standing out among the many great improvements made on the base was their robust energy program where they installed new boilers in multiple facilities, reducing heating costs by $1.2 million and later renegotiated natural gas rates, which slashed costs 24 percent, which in turn saved the base $800,000.
